December has not been very "merry" for thousands of Washington residents. Many, many people have tragically been affected by the out-of-control flooding due to the unprecedented storms that have brought "atmospheric rivers" and uncommon warmth--melting with rapid speed the snow in the mountains.
In an article, published on December 17, 2025 on the Oregon Public Broadcasting website (opb.org), it was stated: "According to the governor's office, first responders had conducted at least 629 rescues and 572 assisted evacuations. As many as 100,000 people had been under evacuation orders at times, many of them in the flood plain of the Skagit River north of Seattle."

After the Storm Care set up an outreach post in Sedro-Woolley, WA on December 22, 2025 in the heart of the Skagit River Valley communities where many homes were severely damaged and many families were displaced. We talked to people whose homes had three to five feet of water inside of them, destroying personal items, appliances, and furniture. They were now staying with family, in Airbnbs, and in RVs in local church parking lots while the clean-up and restoration process is taking place. Homes need new flooring, drywall, cabinets, and more. We were able to give out Emergency Care Kits, Bible-based literature, blankets, hats, and children's clothes, and we were able to offer financial support to help with some of their immediate needs. The reality is that most of these people will be displaced for many months so please keep them in your prayers.
Your prayers and donations are helping to make a difference in many lives. Thank you to our After the Storm Care supporters!
