Watching Events Unfold & Feeling Compassion

For me, it all began in August of 2023, as I sat in shock and sadness watching the reports of the "deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century" in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. So many dear people experiencing the horror of losing loved ones, homes, and businesses, along with the beauty of their Lahaina town, park and waterfront. Since that time, it seems like one catastrophic event has occurred after another affecting the unassuming lives of so many people in our United States of America.

Shelters are created. Donations of goods are brought in. Communities come together. People rethink their lives and their futures. What now? Where do we go from here? I can only imagine what that would be like, but I do know I wouldn't like it at all.

Fortunately, God cares about all of us. Where would we be without Him? Nothing or no one can ever take Him from us. Everything else may go, but He is always there for us. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

So, finally, an idea was born--an idea to step in and help the victims of future natural disasters! That is where After the Storm Care comes in. That is why we're starting this wonderful ministry--to offer spiritual hope and financial assistance to individuals and families in the throes of displacement and uncertainty.
